The TRUTH about Christian Work at Home Jobs

The truth about Christian home businesses – or any Christian work at home job – is that "easy money" doesn't exist.

I'm sorry to have to tell you that, but it's the truth.

If there really was a way to make easy money, everybody would be doing it. There are no undiscovered or hidden ways to make lots of easy money.

That doesn't mean, however, that you can't earn an income at home. You will just have to adjust your mindset.

Here's the cold truth about working at home:

Find a Reputable Christian Home Business
Work Hard at It
Stay with It Over the Long Term

That's it.

That's the formula for success for Christian home businesses.

The Formula for Success

The formula mentioned above breaks down into three principles.

  1. Carefully choose a Christian business opportunity. More than likely, this is where you are at right now. You are looking for that perfect opportunity. But there's one problem: there are no perfect Christian home businesses.

Everyone wants to find that one home business opportunity that will set them free financially – with little or no effort. But that just isn't realistic. So you will need to choose between a few Christian work at home jobs. See just below for guidance on how to choose a home business opportunity.

  2. Work hard. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but, there is no financial reward without hard work. It won't be easy. If someone or some web site tries to sell you something that will get you rich with little or no work, run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. There is no success without hard work.

Proverbs 10:4 reads, "The one who is lazy becomes poor, but the one who works diligently becomes wealthy" (New English Translation).

  3. Don't give up. You may even now be tempted to give up – even before you start. But if you are going to create something of value for you and your family, it will take time. Don't be fooled by promises of quick wealth. If someone found a way to create quick wealth, why would they need to sell you a product that enables you to do what they say is quick and easy? I've seen some ads where people say things like, "I now feel the need to give back. I am wealthy and now I need to help others get there." Don’t take the bait. If their true desire was to "give back," they would give away their knowledge or program for free. They wouldn't need to charge you any money.

Never forget, people selling hope are doing just that: selling.

So, once you have carefully considered the various Christian home business opportunities and made your selection: don't give up. Stay at it. It is going to take time to start earning money – weeks at least. It will take months before you begin earning enough to impact your budget. And it will be many months, if not years, before you can say that this home business has changed your life.

Keep going – keep moving toward your goal. Don't give up.

How to Choose a Christian Home Business

Ok, you are determined to work hard and stay with your plan for the long term. Now you just need to choose from among the available Christian home businesses.

How do you choose?

  • Just because it says, "Christian," doesn't mean that it is Christian. This isn't necessarily bad. Secular work at home opportunities can be an alright alternative. But don't be fooled if they claim to be Christian. Look deeper. If you are determined to be involved with a Christian home business, be sure that it is actually Christian.
  • You can often take a secular home business and turn it into a Christian work at home job. You can use profits to help others. You can create partnerships with other Christians. You can determine to offer your services to Christians. You can turn a secular home business into a form of a Christian business.
  • The bible speaks against making wealth your goal. I've been to home meetings where the speaker did little more than entice people to dream that they could have everything they want in life if they just buy into his way of making money. But Proverbs 23:4 reads, "Don’t wear yourself out to become rich; be wise enough to restrain yourself" (New English Translation). Be sure that you are motivated by righteous intentions.
  • The bible warns against seeking quick wealth. Proverbs 13:11 reads, "Wealth gained quickly will dwindle away, but the one who gathers it little by little will become rich" (New English Translation). Choose a Christian home business that follows this principle.
  • Look for Christian home businesses which have a long track record of success. Phrases like, "Get in on the ground floor," may sound exciting, but most new businesses will fail. So look for a home business that has endured the test of time.
  • Look for Christian home business opportunities that have a solid reputation. Have you ever heard about the company before? What do you hear about them? What do you find when you do a web search on their business name? What do your friends think? Are they listed with the Better Business Bureau? If the very name of the company or business turns up people's noses, it's not likely that you will have any type of success.
  • Look for reasonable entry fees. Nearly every Christian home business opportunity will want something up front – not every one, but most. Look at what you are getting and evaluate whether or not the money is worth it. How? Ask yourself a question: "Can I pay myself back for the entry fees within a maximum of six months?"
  • Will you like the people you are working with? If you work with people who's goal is simply to get rich, you may not like their ethical methods. Work with people who share your values.
  • Do something that compliments your interests, values, and personality. If you are introverted, hosting parties two or three nights a week might not work for you. If you have no passion for your business, you won't work hard at it – and therefore won't be successful. And if it calls on you to use unethical methods you will not be happy.
